Kate Corby & Dancers was a San Francisco-based organization from 2001 04. The ensemble performed in many Bay Area venues including the Cowell Theater, ODC Theater, Dance Mission, Venue 9, 848 Community Space, Zeum Theater and Shotwell Studios. The company received grant support from the Zellerbach Family Foundation, CA$H of Theatre Bay Area, and Meet the Composer. After a five-year hiatus, KC&D was reestablished in Madison, WI, where Corby is currently an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin. Corby began choreographing and dancing as a theater major at Beloit College in Beloit, WI in 1997. She has since shown her work in New York, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin, Canada, Taiwan and Hungary, where she carried out choreographic research as a Fulbright Fellow in 2006. Recently Kate has been presenting work in Chicago with the LIVE ANIMALS Performance Collective (Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Hamlin Park Fieldhouse, Link's Hall and Around the Coyote Gallery) and independently at the Dance Center of Columbia College. Corby received an MFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2007. In addition to pursuing choreography at the UIUC, Kate was also an instructor from 2004-07 and performed with numerous faculty and student choreographers. Corby has served on the faculties of Beloit College, the Dance Center of Columbia College and the Pedagogy Department of the Hungarian Dance Academy. She joined the UW-Madison faculty in 2008.
